About the Journal
Malaysian Journal of Catalysis (MJCat), e-ISSN: 0128-2581 (Online) is the premier scholarly publication in the field of catalysis and an indispensable source of information for chemists and chemical engineers in both industrial and academic fields.
MJCat publishes original, rigorous, and scholarly contributions in the fields of heterogeneous catalysis, homogeneous catalysis and biocatalysis. These include studies that relate catalytic function to fundamental chemical processes at surfaces and in metal complexes, novel concepts in surface chemistry, the synthesis and catalytic function of novel inorganic solids and complexes, spectroscopic methods for structural characterization, and theoretical methods of direct interest and impact in the science and applications of catalysts and catalytic processes.
The journal features authoritative articles, priority communications, research notes, and letters to the Editors. Priority Communications contain unique, exciting, and novel results that provide compelling evidence for rapid publication; while results in such communications may be of a preliminary nature, experimental details must be fully documented and the results reliably reproduced. Research Notes typically contain data and concepts that resolve in a concise but rigorous manner issues raised in previous publications.
As a non-profit publication, MJCat is supported by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and published by Penerbit UTM Press. The journal is committed to providing genuine open access to scholarly content, offering its services free of charge to both authors and the research community. No fees are required for article submission or processing. Additionally, UTM’s Department of Digital Services (UTM Digital) ensures the secure archiving and backup of all scholarly content on physical servers.

PEER-REVIEW PROCESS
Single-blind Peer-review process. The peer review process of our journal is outlined through the inclusion of a dedicated section that provides detailed insights. This section serves as a comprehensive resource, offering transparency into the various dimensions of our peer review methodology. Notably, our approach exclusively involves external reviewers to ensure an impartial evaluation. To uphold the robustness of our single-blind peer review system, a minimum of two external reviewers assesses each manuscript. Decisively, the authority to determine manuscript acceptance rests with the section editor, with the involvement of the Editor-in-Chief reserved for exceptional cases. This strategic transparency allows authors, reviewers, and readers to gain a clear understanding of our evaluation procedure. By providing such comprehensive information, we uphold the principles of accountability, transparency, and excellence in our journal's content assessment.
